MIR New Colonel of the Regiment Assumes Responsibilities

Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff took over duties as the new Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) on Tuesday (15) at the MIR Regimental HQ in Dambuluhalmillewa during a simple ceremony amidst religious blessings.

The incoming Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by Brigadier A.M.A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc, Centre Commandant-MIR after he was greeted in a Guard Turnout. Subsequently, the new Colonel of the Regiment offered a floral tribute to MIR fallen war heroes' monument in the premises before a formal Guard of Honour saluted him.

Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc warmed his new office as Colonel of the Regiment after lighting the traditional oil lamp before he left his signature symbolically for an official document to signify the acceptance of the new responsibility.

Towards the end of the day's proceedings, he was invited to pose for a group photograph before he addressed the Officers. MIR Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
