8th Theater Sustainment Command Delegation of the US Army Exchanges Views on Mission Logistics

A visiting delegation of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command of the US Army, led by Major General Jared Helwig, Commanding General of the US Army 8th Theater Sustainment Command, together with Colonel McGunegle, 130 Engineer Brigade Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Nelson, Senior Defence Official at the U.S Embassy in Colombo, and Major Theresa Christie, Executive Officer called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu on Wednesday (16 August) at the Army HQ.

The Head of the delegation at first presented a briefing on the 8th Theater Sustainment Command of the US Army and its priorities saying that the 8th Theater Sustainment Command of the US Army has been raised to deliver multinational sustainment solutions for effective execution of missions while integrating and synchronizing strategic sustainment capabilities for diverse operations.

Afterwards, US delegates and the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army discussed the logistic role and capabilities of the Sri Lanka Army with special focus on current logistics. They also exchanged views on logistics, related to the US Army and Armies elsewhere in the execution of specific roles.

Towards the end of the discussion, the Commander of the Army presented mementoes to the visiting US delegates. The gesture was reciprocated by US delegation.

Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff and Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Military Secretary also contributed to the discussion representing the Sri Lanka Army.
