Taking time off from his schedule in Kandy on Friday (11) after offer of dried coconuts (Copra) for illuminations in the historic Kandy Esala Perahera (pageant), Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army made a visit to the recently-constructed and semi-functional Army Base Hospital in Pallekele, Kandy in order to receive updates and inspect its operational aspects.
Brigadier W.W.M.P.W.W.B.R Palamakumbura RWP RSP, Director Management and Maintenance of Army Base Hospital Kandy warmly welcomed the visiting Commander of the Army to the location and showed him around the new hospital complex. During this visit, a discussion got underway with the Director Management and Maintenance of Army Base Hospital in Kandy at the hospital conference hall where the Army Chief received updates on the progress of its functional aspects. Possibilities of proper maintenance of the new hospital were also taken up for review during the meet.
The Army Chief also had a close look at the Out Patient Department (OPD), now fully functional and interacted with members of the medical staff and minor staff on duty.
Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardana RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General at the Army HQ, Major General S.R.B Aluvihare RWP RSP ndu psc, Adjutant General, Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces-Central, Major General P.A.C Fernando USP, Director General Army Health Services and few other Senior Officers were also associated with the visit.
