A 'Shramadana' drive launched by 613 Infantry Brigade troops of the 61 infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-West cleaned up the historic 'Yatagala' temple compound in Unawatuna, Galle on Thursday (20).
During the programme, troops collected all pollutants, plastic-waste, dry tree leaves and garbage, much of those that had been left behind by pilgrims and devotees visiting the temple.
The Commanding Officer of 2 (V) Gemunu Watch under the 613 Infantry Brigade following guidelines given by Brigadier K.V.I.L Jayaweera USP, Commander of 613 Infantry Brigade carried out the work and received the blessings of the incumbent monks in the temple.
