Army Chief Interacts with 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps Troops

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, just after his participation at the 73rd higher ordination (Upasampada Vinaya Karma) of the Sri Lanka Ramangnna Nikaya in Matale on Thursday (20) paid a courtesy visit to the 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (1 SLRC) camp at Pallekele and had cordial interactions with the troops in the same afternoon.

The Army Chief was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel M.R Jayasinghe, Commanding Officer, 1 SLRC at the entrance and was accompanied to the Officers’ Mess in the compound. The Commanding Officer of 1 SLRC briefed the visiting Commander of the Army on the role and tasks of the unit before all of them joined the day's visitor for refreshments. The Army Chief also inquired about the well-being of the troops and administrative matters.

Afterwards, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage inspected the ongoing construction works at the 810 Composite Squadron of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps which remains co-located with the 1 SLRC camp in the same premises and gave necessary guidelines for their speedy completion.

After a while, he took time off to pet the horse, named ‘Rifle’ living with the 1 SLRC troops in the same compound feeding it with fruits. Prior to his departure, the Commander of the Army penned a few complimentary remarks and a few thoughts in the visitors' book.

Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff, Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - Central, Major General R.M.M Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP, General Officer Commanding of 11 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were also associated with the Army Chief's visit to the location.
