A formal farewell ceremony, held at the 59 Division Headquarters premises on Wednesday (12 July) saluted the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 59 Division, Major General R.M.M Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP.
A Guard Turnout at the entrance on his arrival at the 59 Division HQ greeted him before he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour, presented at the 59 Division HQ parade square.
Afterwards, he thanked all ranks for the support they extended during his tenure addressing the troops and urged them to cooperate with the incoming GOC in the same manner and spirits while safeguarding the reputation of the organization. An All Rank tea brought the simple ceremony to an end.
Subsequently, the 59 Division awarded a souvenir to the outgoing Senior Officer on behalf of All Ranks in the 59 Division.
Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Staff Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
