Student Officers in the Senior Command Course (SCC) - 08 of the Army War College (AWC) at Buttala as part of their familiarization module called at the Army Headquarters at Sri Jayawardenepura on Monday (10 July) in order to receive basic knowledge as regards duties in respective Branches and Directorates.
The SCC - 08 is comprised of 26 Student Officers representing various Regiments in the Army. Brigadier U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Commandant of the AWC, Brigadier S.P Wikramasekara RWP RSP USP psc, Chief Instructor of AWC and Senior Staff Officers accompanied those Student Officers.
As soon as the team arrived at Army HQ, Major General D.K.S.K Dolage USP psc, Director General Training formally received them. At the same time, Major General W.A.S.S Wanasinghe RSP VSV USP ndu, Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Officers of the AHQ posed for a group photograph with Students Officers and accompanying officers.
Afterwards, Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Director General General Staff (DGGS) of the Army delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Role of a Contemporary Battalion Commander’ at the Multi-Functional Hall before an interactive question and answer session got underway.
The SCC - 08 team visited the Directorate of Operations, its Operation Room and the Directorate of Media. At each location, they were briefed on the role and tasks of each Directorate.
Major General W.B.S.M Abeysekara RSP USP, Director General Finance Management, Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General of the Army, Major General K.P.S.A Fernando RWP RSP ndu, Director General Infantry, Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army and a gathering of Senior Officers were associated with the agenda.
