Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Commander, Security Forces-East at the invitation of members of the Maha Sangha unveiled the pinnacle atop the newly-built pagoda (Dagoba) at Keviliyamaduwa Pansalgala Abhinawarama Vihara in Batticaloa on Sunday (2 July) to coincide with the Esala Full Moon Poya day.
Members of the Civil Security Department (CSD) under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of Mahaoya CSD, Lieutenant Colonel D.L.Y.A Lakpura provided the manpower for the construction after Mrs. Gunawathi Perera, Retired Principal, Mrs. Pushpa Hettiacrachi, Mr and Mrs. Basnayake, UK-based philanthropist, Mr. Rasika Lakmal and a few foreign donors provided the financial contribution to this project.
The religious ceremony was attended by Major General Ranjan Lamahewa (Rtd), Director General CSD, Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Commander, 231 Infantry Brigade and several Senior Officers along with Other Ranks and devotees.
