SLEME Exhibits Skills in National Industry Exhibition

The Ministry of Industries in collaboration with the Industrial Development Board organized the “Industry - 2023” Industrial Exhibition during 22 - 25 of June 2023 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) premises in Colombo with the objective of encouraging and uplifting island-wide industrialists and entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka.

Special attention was given to locally-assembled and locally manufactured vehicles in Sri Lanka during the exhibition.

On the directions of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army and responding to a request made by the Ministry of Industries, the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps (SLEME) arranged an exhibition of SLEME-designed and manufactured several armoured vehicles and equipment at the premises. Major General J.A.R.S.K Jayasekara USP psc, Director General Electrical and Mechanical Engineering was instrumental in organizing the new exhibits for the occasion.

In addition to the vehicles manufactured by SLEME, a stall consists of models (Miniatures) and the specifications were displayed along with the details of those vehicles which were steered to surprise the locals and foreigners who visited the exhibition where Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers exhibits of excellence and craftsmanship were on display.

Many local and foreign dignitaries visited this armoured vehicles and the SLEME stall, including Hon. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Minister of Plantation Industries and Minister of Industries Dr Ramesh Pathirana, and Minister of Tourism and Lands Harin Fernando, with foreign diplomats such as the Ambassador of Switzerland and many other well-wishers.

Along with this exhibition, a vehicle rally was held on Wednesday (21) from Galle Face to the BMICH premises, and the following vehicles manufactured by the SLEME troops participated in the rally with pride and dignity of the Army.
