A group of Army personnel belonging to the 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry of the 144 Infantry Brigade of the 14 Infantry Division on Saturday (24) provided their assistance for a Dengue prevention campaign, organized by the officials at Gothatuwa MOH office in the Kelanimulla Grama Niladari Division in collaboration with Policemen of the Mulleriyawa Police station.
During this project, more than 90 houses were inspected by the participants and necessary guidelines were given to the residents on how the spread of Dengue epidemic in the surroundings could be prevented. They were alerted to mosquito breeding grounds, removal of stagnant water, cleaning of water storage containers and the importance of keeping the surroundings clean, etc.
The Brigade Commander of 144 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer of 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry closely monitored the Army's assistance as per the directions, given by the Commander, Security Forces - West.
