Implementing a conceptual notion to provide assistance for needy students in low-income families residing in the SF-Cen area as suggested by Major General W.R.M.M Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Central (SF-Cen), troops organized one more community project for distribution of school shoes and stationery among 63 students at Haldummulla, Amilagama area on Saturday (June 17).
Accordingly, 63 students studying in Grades 1 - 5 at Amilagama Kanishta Vidyalaya in Haldummulla received school shoes, each pair worth Rs 4,000.00 and a stock of stationery worth about Rs 50,000.00 for distribution among school students from Major General W.R.M.M Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Central.
This was made possible with the kind patronage, offered to the Army by Mrs (Dr) Maika Jayasooriya, Consultant and Director of New South Wales Hospital in South Carolina, United States, together with 'Neth' FM radio broadcasters who presented entertainment features for the students and parents through the coordination of SF-Cen troops.
Towards the end of the occasion, SF-Cen troops provided refreshments to the students free of charge.
Commander, SF-Cen, Senior Officers, Officers, Mrs (Dr) Malika Jayasooriya, Directors and presenters of ‘Neth FM’ radio channel, Principal with his tutorial staff, Other Ranks, Students together with their parents witnessed the event.
