In what could be considered as one more heart-warming display of compassion and support for livelihood, troops under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna recorded the completion of their 769th new house for another low-income group family in Kaddaikadu in the Jaffna peninsula and warmed it on Sunday (18) during a ceremony.
The Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc as the Chief Guest for the inauguration symbolically unveiled a plaque during the warming ceremony and handed over the replica of the main key to the beneficiary, Mr S. Jesly Jayaraj of No. J/429, Vaththirayan, Kaddaikadu, a family with an infant but without any proper means to live. The family had been living in one congested house with four more families.
The deserving house was erected under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55 Infantry Division, Major General M.K.U.P Gunarathna RSP ndu psc IG, who was also instrumental in harnessing the financial support for the project through his personal contacts and well-wishers after the wife in the deserving family reached the GOC for assistance when she was pregnant and attending an Army-organized dry ration distribution programme some time ago.
12 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops provided much-required manpower and technical skills for the construction work under the guidance of the Commander, 553 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier G.S.K Perera RSP.
During the brief warming ceremony, dry ration packs and essential household items were also gifted to the family by the Commander, Security Forces -Jaffna on the same occasion.
Senior Superintendent of Police for Kilinochchi Division S.S.P Ajith Gunaratne, Brigadier Admin & Quartering of the SFHQ-Jaffna, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Government Officials, beneficiaries and their family members, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the event.
