New Defence Advisor in Chinese Embassy Calls on Commander of the Army

The new Defence Advisor to the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, Senior Colonel Zhou Bo this morning (19 June) paid his first courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu at the Army Headquarters.

The cordial meeting exchanged courtesies and focused on general matters of concern and interest to both military organizations. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage and Senior Colonel Zhou Bo recalled long-lasting bonds of goodwill, cooperation and understanding that exist between the Armed Forces of both countries during the cordial meeting and underlined the importance of continued co-operation.

They also discussed possibilities of further enhancement of special training programmes for the Sri Lankan Army as well as the participation of the Armed Forces of both countries in different exchange projects and training modules since China is at the forefront of extending military training assistance to the country.

Towards the end of the cordial meeting, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage symbolized the goodwill of the Sri Lanka Army by awarding a memento to the visiting Defence Adviser. The gesture was reciprocated.

Colonel Gao Bin, Deputy Defence Adviser of the Chinese Embassy was also associated with the day’s meeting.
