The 5th Course of Bomb and Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal (BIEDD) concluded its training at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Thunkama, Embilipitiya on Thursday (June 15).
Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Chief Field Engineer (CFE) of the Sri Lanka Army attending the concluding ceremony awarded badges and certificates to the course as the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The training started on Feb 06 and ended on June 15 inclusive of a 14-day training package on Basic Chemical, Biological, Radiology and Nuclear Response (CBRN) module with the participation of 03 Officers and 24 Other Ranks of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE).
Captain T.G.H.M Karunarathne of 10 SLE and Corporal M.M.M.M Marasinghe of 9 SLE achieved the First in Order of Merits in each Officer and Other Rank categories respectively. The Chief Guest awarded the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) badges and certificates before delivering the closing remarks.
Major General S.A Kulathunga RWP RSP VSV USP psc, General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, Brigadier M.P.K Madurapperuma RSP USP psc, Centre Commandant of SLE, Colonel M.K.V Manoharan USP, Commandant of SLSME, Senior Officers and Other Ranks attended the awarding ceremony.
