Army Swimmers Shine in Two-mile Swimming Championship

The 48th annual 02-mile Sea Swimming Championship which was organized by Dharmashoka College, Ambalangoda got underway on Sunday (Feb 19) around Ambalangoda coastal belt and concluded making the Army team and the St Joseph College, Maradana team to be co-champions.

More than 300 swimmers representing 30 school teams and swimming clubs vied in the event and 11 players of the Army Swimming team secured notable places including the men’s gold medal in the event. The Army team and the St Joseph College team scored 78 equal points to share the Men’s Championship Trophy and the Defence Services Trophy pushing the Devananda College, Ambalangoda team to claim the runners-up trophy with 22 points.
