23 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 122 Infantry Brigade and the 12 Infantry Brigade under the Security Force HQ-Central (SFHQ-Central) with the support of a few donors in the area managed to donate packs of most essential educational accessories among 30 needy students at Sri Devananda College, Yodakandiya and Primary College, Kirinda on Saturday (Feb 18) after inviting the recipients to the Sri Devananda College auditorium.
10 students of Sri Devananda College, Yodakandiya and 20 students at Primary College, Kirinda received those relief packs, each worth Rs. 3000.00 under the project. Several donors in the area shared the cost of those supplies at the request of the Army.
The project was initiated by Lieutenant Colonel K.A.S Gunawardena, Commanding Officer (CO), 23 GR under the guidance of Major General Mohan Rathnayake, Commander, SF-Central, Major General Mihindu Perera, General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division, and Brigadier Nadeeka Kulasekara, Commander, 122 Infantry Brigade.
Colonel Indika Gunawardena, Colonel Coordination, 12 Infantry Division, Lieutenant Colonel D.H.T.C Jayaweewa, Senior Security Officer, 122 Infantry Brigade, CO, 23 GR, Officers, Other Ranks, Principals and tutorial Staff of both schools attended the event.
