17 Sri Lanka National Guard (17 SLNG) troops of the 221 Infantry Brigade of the 22 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ-East (SFHQ-E), organized another successful project to distribute 250 coconut saplings among 50 families, resident in Navachcholai area in Kumburupiddi on Wednesday (March 01) after inviting them to the camp premises.
17 SLNG troops coordinated the supply of coconut saplings through the Agrarian Service Centre (Govi Jana Seva Centre) at Kuchchaweli. Major Layanal Hemakumara, Commanding Officer (CO), 17 SLNG, initiated the project under the guidance of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-E, and Major General Saliya Amunugama, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division under the close supervision of Colonel Sujeewa Rathnayake, Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade.
Brigade Commander, 221 Infantry Brigade, graced the distributing ceremony as the chief guest, together with the Civil Affairs Officer, 221 Infantry Brigade, CO, 17 SLNG, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and beneficiaries.
