More Houses Built for SLLI Soldiers under the 3rd Phase

The continuation of the third phase of the conceptual notion of Major General C.D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu, Chief of Staff of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) to construct separate houses for each most deserving soldier at respective Battalion level bore fruit once again when two more soldiers of the 2 (V) SLLI and the 9 (V) SLLI received two more new houses on Sunday (June 11).

Accordingly, a Non-Commissioned Officer of the 2 (V) SLLI residing at Gange Yaya, Mahiyanganaya was the recipient of a new house, erected by 2 (V) SLLI troops under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel W.M.S Kumara, Commanding Officer of 2 (V) SLLI. The manpower and technical skills of the 2 (V) SLLI troops built the entire house for the soldier who is married and blessed with one son.

At the same time, another Non-Commissioned Officer of 9 (V) SLLI, who is married and blessed with two sons residing at Walasgala, Mahiyanganaya was benefited under the same project by receiving one more new house on the same day (11). Major I.M.G.N Jayathilaka, Commanding Officer of 9 (V) SLLI guided the troops and erected the house lending the technical expertise and manpower of the 9 (V) SLLI troops to the project.

Major General C.D Weerasuriya RWP RSP ndu graced the warming ceremonies as the chief guest, together with Colonel M.P.S.P Kulasekara WWV RWP RSP, Centre Commandant of SLLI, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.

During the events, the Chief of Staff of the Army and Senior Officers gifted a stock of household essentials to both beneficiaries and special gifts to respective SLLI troops who built those houses as tokens of appreciation for their efforts.
