Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc assumed duties as the 14th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) amidst religious blessings at the Regimental Centre in Modera on Wednesday (07 June 2023).
The newly-appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 1st Reconnaissance Regiment of the SLAC at the entrance to the Home of Armour prior to his review of the Guard Turnout.
Subsequently, a Guard of Honour saluted the new Colonel Commandant before he officially assumed duties as the Colonel Commandant at his office in the presence of all SLAC Council Members.
Afterwards, he was invited to plant a ‘Mango’ sapling as a symbol of memory in the compound. Setting out his scope of work, Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc afterwards addressed SLAC troops.
After an All Rank tea, he addressed regimental Officers outlining the importance of professionalism and esprit de corps while maintaining the high standard of discipline which have been maintained over time.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
