Major General Channa Weerasuriya, Chief of Staff (COS) and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) visited the troops serving the 7 SLLI, 10 SLLI, 11 SLLI, 9 (V) SLLI, 16 (V) SLLI, 17 (V) SLLI camps in the Kilinochchi, Mallavi, Karainagar, Varithavilan, Point Pedro and Thunukkai.
The two-day (5-6 March) visit enabled the new Colonel of the Regiment SLLI to find out administrative and logistic needs of those troops.
The protagonist was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officers of each Battalion and saluted with separate drive pass Guard Turnouts before he inspected the battalions. During discussions, he instructed Commanding Officers to inquire into the needs of the soldiers and highlighted the importance of standards and discipline.
He also left few thoughts and compliments in the visitors’ books in respective camps.
