An agricultural knowledge improvement and leadership development programme, themed ‘Haritha Niyamuwo’ was organized by the Wayamba Training Institute in collaboration with the troops of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard (1 SLNG) on Saturday (1 April) at Wayamba Training Institute premises in Wariyapola in order to encourage the students to contribute to the world food safety programmes of the next generation.
Accordingly, 70 students of both schools of Dambadeniya Maha Vidyalaya and Jayanthi Navodya Central College, Nikaweratiya participated in this awareness workshop. Troops assisted this invaluable workshop by providing physical training instructors as well as conducting leadership sessions that included theoretical and practical group activities for the students.
Meanwhile, Brigadier Faumi Kichilan, Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade and Major K.A.S.P Kumara, Commanding Officer, 1 SLNG closely monitored the Army's contribution to this programme on the instructions of Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces - West.
