593 Infantry Brigade's New Purification Plant to Provide Drinking Water to Civilians

The 593 Infantry Brigade troops of the 59 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headqurters-Mullativu (SFHQ-MLT) with the objective of serving dual purposes erected a new Water Purification Plant (Reverse Osmosis plant) at the 593 Infantry Brigade entrance area in Nayaru.

Major General Mahinda Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding of the 59 Infantry Division on Thursday (6 April) inaugurated the facility that could provide drinking water to Army personnel and civilians in the area alike.

This project was initiated by the General Officer Commanding of 59 Division who collected sponsorship for the project through his overseas friends.

Water quality of the area remained polluted and filled with minerals compelling restricted use of drinking water among both Army personnel and civilians in the area. This led to the installation of the Osmosis plant with the support of overseas donors including Mr. Sunil Wijewardana, Mr. Sanjeewa Abeysinghe, Mr. Mahinda Subasinghe, Mr. Chammi Sumeda who were present during the inauguration.

Colonel Chinthaka Wijenayaka, Commander, 593 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers and few civilians in the area participated in the occasion.
