The Security Force HQ - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) troops completed their construction of the record 767th housing project with the support of philanthropists in Thunnalai and vested it in beneficiaries in the presence of Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna on Thursday (April 06) during a simple ceremony.
The 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (4 SLSR) provided vital manpower and technical expertise for the construction work under the supervision of Brigadier Jude Kariyakarawana, Commander of the 551 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel D.M.G.N.M.N Daulagala, Commanding Officer of 4 SLSR under the guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 55 Infantry Division.
This was made possible with the generosity extended by both Mrs Thabitha Chinnaiah and the Wanni Aid organization through the coordination of Lions Club of Mattakkuliya and Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retired).
Upon completion of the construction, Mrs Radiswaran Raseswari and her differently-able husband, along with their four children, residing at Thunnalai (South), Karaveddy received the keys from Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna and GOC 55 Infantry Division. Towards the end of the house-warming formalities, a woman representing the mother of the family made a few very heartfelt thanking remarks and praised the Jaffna troops for their dedicated support and technical assistance. After the symbolic hand-over of the keys to the new home, the day's Chief Guest gifted a stock of dry ration packets, kitchen and home appliances to the beneficiaries.
Mr N Jeganathan of Wanni Aid Organization, Mrs Umakanthan Sivakamy, Assistant Divisional Secretary of Karaveddy, Commanders of 551 and 552 Infantry Brigades, Senior Officers, state officials, invitees, relatives and civilians were also present at the event.
