Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed office as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 21 Infantry Division, under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni, amid religious blessings and formalities at the Infantry Division's Headquarters at Ranasewapura, Anuradhapura on 22 March 2023.
The new General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers and greeted with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour in conformity with military traditions.
Afterwards, the new GOC was invited to sign an official document to mark the assumption of his duties amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting.
The programme of the day included planting of a sapling and the customary troop address and an All Rank tea at the Division Headquarters. During the troop address, the General Officer Commanding emphasized unique efforts made by the Sri Lanka Army during the war and peacetime and the significance of the commitment and dedication of all ranks to maintaining of high standard of military discipline in order to enhance the image of the Army within the general public.
Brigade Commanders of under-command Brigades, all Staff Officers of the 21 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
