Nigerian Defence Delegation Visits Army War College

The defence delegation of Nigeria, headed by Major General SO Olabanji, Director of Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command made a visit to Army War College (AWC), Buttala on Thursday (08) as a part of their five-day familiarization tour in Sri Lanka. Brigadier U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, the Commandant, Army War College warmly welcomed the visiting delegation at the AWC Headquarters premises.

During the cordial meeting, they promised to strengthen the ties between the two militaries and more co-operation in future and they also got an overview of the places of their interest in the AWC attaching more prominence to the training activities conducted in the Defence Studies Branch (DSB).

The delegation enthusiastically witnessed a demonstration of ground orientation displayed at the Open Air Wing premises followed by visiting the exercise area where the Student Officers of the Junior Staff Course (JSC) have been attending their exercises as per the weekly training programme. Afterwards, they observed another programmed training session of the Junior Command Course (JCC), underway in their syndicate room. The delegation subsequently visited the Main Auditorium and the Foreign Officers’ accommodation area of the AWC as well as the lecture halls complex of the DSB building.

Towards the end of their day’s agenda, the visiting delegation had an interactive session with the Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Chief Instructor, Senior Instructors and other members of the Directing Staff and was subsequently, invited to a lunch, hosted by the Commandant of the Army War College.

Finally, the Commandant presented a memento to the visiting defence delegation of the Nigerian Army to mark their visit to the AWC and the gesture was reciprocated. Prior to their departure, the head of the delegation left a few thoughts in the Visitors’ Book.
