Cavalrymen Bid Farewell to Outgoing Colonel Commandant

Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) troops bade farewell to their retiring loyal Cavalryman, Major General D.B.S.N Bothota RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the former Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna and the Colonel Commandant of SLAC on Sunday (June 04) in a formal ceremony at the SLAC Regimental Centre, Modara.

The days’ programme commenced with the arrival of Major General D.B.S.N Bothota RWP RSP VSV USP psc who was welcomed by the Commanding Officer of the 1 SLAC following a Guard Turnout. The colorful parade was reviewed by the outgoing Colonel Commandant, accompanied by the Parade Commander, together with Brigadier W.P Kariyawasam, Commander, Armoured Brigade and Brigadier P.N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, Centre Commandant in accordance with military traditions.

Similarly, the outgoing Senior Officer, placed his official signature in a document to hand over the responsibilities to the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant of the SLAC before joining an All-Rank Tea which culminated the first day’s proceedings. At the end of the events, the outgoing Colonel Commandant was awarded a street-line farewell bid by Officers and Other Ranks of the SLAC.

A farewell dinner was also hosted in honour of the outgoing Colonel Commandant by all Officers at the Cavalry Officers’ Mess with their spouses. Major General D.B.S.N Bothota RWP RSP VSV USP psc thanked everyone and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the generous assistance, offered to in many ways by all Officers and Other Ranks during his military career.
