Signal Corps Troops Modernize Cougar Radios for Use among Special Forces

The Cougar Radio system, modified by 10 Sri Lanka Signal Corps troops, which is capable of enhancing the cougar radio capacity during ordinary operations and addressing the shortage of secure communication systems for smooth conduct of special urban operations of the Special Forces was formally handed over to the Commanding Officer, 4th Regiment of the Special Forces, Major W.R.A.S.M Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP USP by Chief Signal Officer (CSO), Major General K.A.W.S Rathnayake ndu on Tuesday (02).

It took place at the Office of the CSO in front of several Senior Officers.

The Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), the communication, cyber and IT arm of the Army realizing the importance of the present day’s needs for reliable military communication equipment for the Army, took steps to modify this equipment having collected inoperative Cougar radios. those units were re-designed by adding new components and technical gadgets.

The entire project was undertaken by 10 SLSC troops under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel H.M.B.M.B Herath with their professional specialists in the field. The project is another extension of the Sri Lanka Army’s long-term plans of self-sustainability and defence production in the sphere of communication.
