Troops of the 211 Infantry Brigade extending their helping hand for the betterment of the poor in Meadwachchiya Divisional secretariat gave away dry ration packets among 50 low - income group families on Saturday (6) on account of Vesak.
The welfare project was jointly sponsored by the philanthropists, Mr. Umesh Gunasekara, Mrs. Maduri Gunasekara and Mrs. Harshani Guansekara following coordination done by Mr. Prasad Lokubalasooriya as part of 27th ‘The Relief Vessel of Humanity’ project.
The 21 Infantry Division’s General Officer Commanding Major General W.P.A.D.W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu as the Chief Guest, together with the Divisional Secretary for Medawachchiya Mrs M.C Malaviarachchi, Businessman Mr. Umesh Gunasekara and other donors, the Civil Affairs officer of 211 Infantry Brigade, Officers and troops of 14 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment attended the distribution progamme.
