551 Infantry Brigade troops of the 55 Infantry Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna through the patronage received from the Old Pupils' Association at Sri Vajiragnana Dharmayathanaya, Maharagama distributed a stock of school accessories among needy children studying at Sri Narada Vidyalaya, Rajagamanin, Karaveddy on 15 May.
52 students of low-income group families under this project received packs of school accessories. Dry ration packs and dresses were also gifted to19 teachers in the school during the same occasion.
The event was organized by 551 Infantry Brigade troops under the guidance of Major General M. K. U. P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division and Brigadier S.J Kariyakarawana RWP RSP USP, Commander 551 Infantry Brigade.
The project was coordinated by Colonel B.D.T.D Jayarathne psc, Senior Instructor, Army War College and representatives of the Old Pupils' Association.
Ven Meegahavathure Siri Vimala Thero, Rev Fr N Surendran, Divisional Education Director Karaveddy, Commanding Officer of 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Principal with the Teaching staff and students took part in the event.
