SLCMP Regiment Centre Bids Farewell to Retiring Colonel Commandant

The outgoing Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), Major General A.L Illangakoon was felicitated and awarded military honours at the SLCMP Regimental Centre at Polhengoda on Thursday (18 May), the date of his retirement.

A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour greeted the day’s Chief Guest at the RHQ parade square before he was invited to sit for a couple of photographs and partake of refreshments at the Officers’ Mess. Afterwards, he spoke to the troops and thanked the Commander of the Army, all members of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, past Colonel Commandants and All Ranks for the support extended to him during the tenure of his office.

Later in the evening, a customary farewell mess night was hosted to the retiring Major General A.L Illangakoon with the participation of Provost Officers and their spouses. The Provost Marshal Major General A.C.A de Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc delivered the farewell speech extending a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for the service of the outgoing SLCMP Colonel Commandant while recalling some of the salient achievements, milestone and memories of the Senior Officer. In return, Major General A.L Illangakoon recalled undying memories and expressed his deep appreciation for all the good work done by All Ranks during his tenure.

The Provost Marshal, council members, Senior Officers and Officers participated in the day’s chain of events.
