The Inter-Division Basketball Tournament of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-East), organized by the 24 Infantry Division in close coordination with 22 & 23 Infantry Divisions got underway at the Weber Stadium in Batticaloa on Friday (13).
The preliminary rounds of the matches were competed by all five teams of the Divisions, including the basketball players of the Forward Maintenance Area - East, but the 23 Infantry Division’s team vying against the 24 Infantry Division’s team in the finals emerged victorious and clinched the championship.
The final awarding ceremony, attended by Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East gave away trophies and certificates to the winners and participants.
The tournament was spearheaded by 24 Infantry Division troops on the guidelines and support given by Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division.
General Officers Commanding of 22, 23 and 24 Infantry Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present among the large crowd of spectators.
