The Corps of Agriculture and Livestock (SLACAL) of the Army, located at Karandeniya, Ambalangoda marked its 2nd anniversary during Jan 02-04 with a series of events, inclusive of religious rituals and military formalities at the Regimental Centre.
Under the guidance of Major General Shiran Abeysekera, Director General Financial Management (DGFM) of the Army and Colonel Commandant of the SLACAL, a formal get-together got underway at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess at Karandeniya Regimental Centre on Monday (2).
On the same day, alms were offered to the members of Maha Sangha and a donation was made to the Warusawithana Elders’ Home. Brigadier Bandula Bandara, Centre Commandant, SLACAL joined the occasion that followed a Bodhi Pooja. The Colonel Commandant, all Officers and Other Ranks of the SLACAL attended the arrangement.
On the anniversary day (4), the Colonel Commandant, SLACAL was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, SLACAL after he was saluted in a Guard Turnout and a ceremonial parade.
Afterwards, the day’s Chief Guest addressed the troops and sat for a group photograph before he planted a sapling at the Officers’ Mess premises. Mrs Shanthi Abeysekera, Chairperson of the SLACAL Seva Vanitha Branch also took part in those arrangements.
