651 Brigade Troops Initiate Income-Generating Project for School

The 651 Infantry Brigade troops with the objective of generating a source of income for development of the Kaneshapuram Primary School at Wellankulam planted 100 hybrid cashew saplings in the school compound on Tuesday (Dec 20).

This inspiring project was launched by Brigadier Wasantha Bandara, Commander, 651 Infantry Brigade under the guidance of Major General Prasad Edirisinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 65 Infantry Division with the close collaboration of Mr R Sanjeewan, Kilinochchi District Divisional Manager of Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation.

Lieutenant Colonel A.A.N.B Athurugiriya, Commanding Officer of the 17(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (17(V)SLLI) troops closely supervised the planting process with the support of school authorities.

The inaugural planting was done during a simple ceremony in the presence of the GOC, 65 Infantry Division as the chief guest and the Commander, 651 Infantry Brigade, Mr R Sanjeewan, the principal, tutorial staff, 17(V) SLLI troops, parents, and students.
