Troops of the 11 Infantry Division in Pallekele under the Security Force HQ-Central on Friday (16) bade farewell to its outgoing Major General Kalpa Sanjeewa, General Officer Commanding (GOC) in a fitting ceremony.
The day’s agenda commenced on his arrival at the premises where he was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers of the 11 Division after a smart Guard Turnout saluted him. Afterwards, an elegant Guard of Honour presented arms and honoured the day’s Chief Guest before he was invited to plant a sapling in front of the Division HQ office complex as a token of memory.
After a while, he addressed under-command troops who were present and thanked all of them for the support given to him during his tenure of office as the GOC.
As the final segment of the arrangement, the outgoing GOC joined an all-rank tea and shared a couple of views with them. Staff Officers and representative Other Ranks presented several tokens of appreciation to the retiring GOC.
