59 Infantry Division Marks its 15th Birthday

The 59 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu celebrated its 15th anniversary on Thursday (Dec 01) with a series of events to match with military formalities and religious blessings. All the programmes were conducted under the guidance of Major General Mahinda Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division with the participation of the troops in the Division.

The evening prior to the anniversary, all troops joined a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ at the shrine premises to invoke blessings on the well-being of the Divisional troops and all serving in Brigades and Units.

On the anniversary day, the GOC, 59 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by the Divisional Staff and saluted in a formal Guard Turnout before he was saluted in a ceremonial Guard of Honour. Later the GOC addressed the troops and joined an All Rank tea.

The next day All Ranks in the 59 Infantry Division had a get-together and joined a musical show which was also graced by the GOC, 59 Infantry Division, GOC, 57 Infantry Division and Brigade Commanders in the area. Divisional staff, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were also present during the event.
