On intelligence received, troops of the 3 (Volunteer) Military Intelligence Corps, attached to the 241 Infantry Brigade and 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of the 241 Infantry Brigade of the 24 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East, together with STF Policemen at Thirukkovil raided a hidden location in Ninathavur where approved fertilizer stocks were mixed with salt and plastic elements in order to increase quantities on 24 November.
40 tons of fertilizer, thus mixed with chemical pollutants, together with six suspects and their equipment, involved in making illegal fertilizer were arrested and handed over to the Ninthavur Police station.
