Major General Laksiri Perera’s Services Appreciated

Major General Laksiri Perera of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), Commandant, Sri Lanka Army War College at Buttala on the verge of his retirement from the Army, having served more than 33 years in an exemplary manner, arrived on invitation at the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage on Friday (15), together with his family members where his committed service was hailed by the Army Chief.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army extending a warm welcome commended his dedicated and committed roles in various capacities and praised his loyalty to the organization and also his integrity throughout. He also refreshed memories of the retiree’s invaluable sacrifices and dedicated roles during the height of the war against terrorism as a true infantryman before May 2009.

In addition, the Army Chief highly appreciated his role as a very capable instructor in the Army and shared a few views about his future endeavours and plans.

The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR)-groomed Senior Officer during his tenure of office served many key command, Staff and Instructor appointments in many Army establishments before he was appointed as the Commandant at Sri Lanka Army War College in Buttala.

The Army Chief during the interaction shared a few thoughts with his family members who were present at the occasion and thanked them for the inspiration and courage they had given to the outgoing Senior Officer in the performance of his duties.

The outgoing Senior Officer also in turn thanked the Commander of the Army for his wishes and guidance while mentioning the encouragement he received in the performance of his duties. Towards the end of the interaction, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage awarded a special memento to the outgoing Major General Laksiri Perera as a symbol of appreciation and commendation, along with a special gift to the family.
