Underprivileged Family in Mulleriyawa Receives Army-built New Home

Troops of the 12 Gajaba Regiment and 2(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the close supervision of the Commander 144 Brigade Colonel Vindana Kodituwakku and the guidance of the 14 Division of the Security Force HQ-West with financial patronage of the Buddhist Association of the People’s Bank, Dr Madawa Thenuwara and few other donors constructed a new house for an underprivileged family of Mr Welgamage Sudarshana Prabath who is having four children in Mulleriyawa North GN division area and vested it in them on Tuesday (28).

This task was launched as per 'Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025' of the Army Chief, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army and Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Center (GAOC).

The Commander Security Forces -West, Major General Kithsiri Liyanage graced the occasion as the Chief Guest together with the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Division Major General Krishantha Gnanarathne, together with the Commander 144 Brigade Colonel Vindana Kodituwakku.

In accordance with ancient traditions, the day's Chief Guest and the sponsors unveiled a plaque and warmed the new house at the auspicious time and handed over the 'Sannasa' with house keys, joined oil-lamp lighting and boiling milk rituals, amidst religious observances. “Sisu Udana” pass books were also gifted to each child at the same location.

Civil Affairs officer of the 144 Brigade, Commanding officers of 12 Gajaba Regiment and 2 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the Chairman of People's Bank head office, Mr Sujeewa Rajapaksha, the Manager of Peoples’ Bank, Kotikawatta branch Mr and Mrs Jayasuriya and all financial sponsors attended the occasion.
