Children in Shivanagar Orphanages Gifted with Seasonal Incentives

Orphaned children resident at ‘Arobanan’ and the ‘Holy Family’ Children’s Homes in Shivanagar area, served by 662 Brigade under the 66 Division HQ troops were entertained to a sumptuous lunch treat and gifted with school accessories on Thursday (23) on account of the X’mas. Generosity of Ms A. Kamalawathi and Ms T.G. Dilani Malkanthi enabled the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 66 Division, Major General Lasantha Rodrigo to go ahead with the project and the programme was headed by Brigadier W.M.L.S Dayawansa, Commander of the 662 Brigade, 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops in the 662 Brigade organized the work, related to the donation of school accessories.

The community programme was conducted with the intention of uplifting educational standards of the students of these two orphanages and also enhancing the cooperation and goodwill among the civil community in the area of responsibility of the 662 Brigade under the 66 Division.

Christmas Carol Songs presented by the Army Calypso Band of the 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry provided music throughout the entire programme. The Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel I.K.A.C Kumara, Officers and Other Ranks of the 20th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry took part in the occasion.

The event strictly followed health protocols of the government.
