With the objective of alleviating economic hardships of the poor people in Keviliyamadu area, the 231 Brigade HQ with the sponsorship, provided by Mrs Shiromi Masakorala, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Communication in Hemas Holding PLC provided free dry ration packets to 50 needy families during an arrangement staged at Sunethraramaya Temple in Keviliyamadu on Sunday (26).
The Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Lal Chandrasisi graced this event as the Chief Guest during his maiden field visit to the 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) camp under the 231 Brigade. The programme got underway under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswatte and was organized by Brigadier Dilupa Bandara, Commander, 231 Brigade.
The relief packs, each worth about Rs 4000/= contained rice, dhal, spices, milk powder, onions, sprats and other essentials.
General Officer Commanding of 23 Division, Brigadier General Staff of the Security Force Headquarters-East, Commander, 231 Brigade, Civil Affairs Officer of 231 Brigade, Commanding Officer of 11 (V) SLSR, troops of 11 (V) SLSR and the civilians attended the event.
