New Security Forces Commander Undertakes Formal Visits to 51 & 52 Divisions

Major General Sujeewa Senarathyapa who assumed duties as the 27th Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna made his formal field visits to 51 and 52 Divisions Headquarters in the peninsula during 21-22 December 2021.

Upon his arrival at the 51 Division HQ, the new Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna was welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Major General Chandana Wickramasighe after he was greeted to a drive past Guard Turnout. Afterwards, he addressed Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops under the 51 Division. Then, a comprehensive briefing on role and tasks in their area of responsibility was delivered by the General Officer Commanding and his staff officers.

On Wednesday (22), he paid his first visit to the 52 Division HQ in Mirisuvil to be received by Brigadier Samantha Wickramasena, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division on arrival at the Division HQ. Commander was welcomed and greeted through a drive past Guard Turnout at the entrance in keeping with military traditions before he was ushered into the office complex. A subsequent comprehensive briefing on the 52 Division’s role and tasks as well as other responsibilities was presented by the General Officer Commanding.

Addressing troops of both 51 and 52 Divisions, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna emphasized that soldiers should be ready to undertake tasks in line with “Sri Lanka Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025” through sheer commitment, dedication and work hard to achieve the desired goals. Further, the new Jaffna Commander insisted soldiers’ on the need for continuous training, maintaining of high standards discipline, command responsibilities and accountabilities and urged all soldiers to put their maximum effort to achieve the concept of operation of the Security Forces of Jaffna.

During these field visits, the Commander visited few important places and discussed with ground troops on operational duties and commitments to ensure the security of those places and awareness of ground realities.

Moreover, in line with the Security Forces Commander’s visit to 52 Division, troops of 7th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment organized a ceremony of donating essentials for 31 pregnant mothers in the area while strengthening the reconciliation and ethnic harmony among the communities simultaneously widening the civil-military coordination and cooperation in the Jaffna peninsula.

Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering and staff officers of the Security Forces Jaffna were also present during the events.
