At the request of Pottuvil-base Hospital, 5 Officers and 74 soldiers of the 242 Brigade Headquarters of the 24 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East volunteered to give blood to the hospital patients during a programme launched at the 242 Brigade HQ on Sunday (12).
The arrangement, supervised by the Commander, 242 Brigade, Brigadier Chandika Peiris was attended by doctors and nursing staff at the Pottuvil-base hospital. The excess blood stock is to be stored in the Ampara Blood Bank according to the medical staff.
Senior Officers of the 24 Division, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers of the 242 Brigade and troops joined the programme.
