GW's New Colonel of the Regiment Assumes Office

The Director General Infantry and Overall Security Coordinator of the Army Headquarters, Major General Lal Chandrasiri assumed duties as the 21st Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 07th December 2021 amidst religious observances at the office of the Regimental Centre at the Gemunu Watch Regimental HQ, Kuruwita.

The programme commenced in accordance with military traditions after Major General Lal Chandrasiri was welcomed by the Centre Commandant of the Gemunu Watch and was invited to receive the Guard Turnout salute at the main entrance plus the salute presented by Gemunu Watch troops at the parade square.

After the commemoration of War Heroes at the monument, Major General Lal Chandrasiri addressed All Ranks at the Highlanders' Paradise hall.

Major General Lal Chandrasiri is a proud product of Thurstan College-Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army Regular Force on 20th July 1987 of the Intake 28 and was commissioned on 23rd June 1989 and posted to 4th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.
