A two-day workshop, organized by the School of Signals for incumbent Commanding Officers and potential Commanding Officers in due course got underway during 9-10 December at Mercury house, Diyathalawa.
The Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General Ashoka Peiris delivered the opening address and commenced the workshop as scheduled where the Commander, Signal Brigade, Brigadier G.L.S.W Liyanage conducted his lecture initially on “What is my Role as Commanding Officers”.
The proceedings of the first day included a wide array of subjects, namely: Legal responsibilities of a Commanding Officer, (Lecture by Major N.R.M.R.A Giragama from Directorate of Legal and a lecture conducted by Mr Isuru Achintha Ekanayaka, Senior Lecturer at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, covering few areas of management; management concepts and best practices, communication in organization and critical thinking.
The programme of the second day also unfolded with a lecture delivered by Professor Lilantha Samaranayaka of the university of Peradeniya, introducing robotics. The Commander K.H.N Kulapathi from Centre for Defence Research and Development talked on drone technology and drone mapping. Introducing to hologram lecture was conducted by Colonel K.V.P Dhammika and Major R.M.C.D Jayawardana from Directorate of Internal Audit delivered the final lecture on 'How to overcome financial issues at unit level.'
Finally, the closing address was delivered by Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-Cen, Brigadier K.A.W.S Rathnayake before workshop sessions ended.
