Own Initiative of the GOC Gets Schols to Two Orphaned Students in Same Family

At the request of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 65 Division, Major General Anil Samarasiri, two orphaned students, sister and brother of the same family, living in Palinagar, Vavunikulam under economic hardships were offered two scholarships for their higher studies.

In response to the request made by the GOC 65 Division, his own sister, resident in Australia, Mrs KA Shirani offered to give a scholarship of Rs.5000.00 per month up to the Advanced Level to Ms Pradeepan Kirushalani studying in Grade 8 at Palinagar school and Mr Eranga Jayakody offered to give a scholarship of Rs 3000 per month up to Ordinary Level to Prageeth Dinotheepan, studying in Grade 3 of Kollavilankulam Government Tamil Mixed School.

Both children are raised by their grandmother as the guardian after their parents left them.

The General Officer Commanding, 65 Division along with Brigade commander and the Civil Affairs Officer of the 652 Brigade handed over those two financial donations to both selected beneficiaries on 30th November 2021 at Palinagar School in the presence of the principal and teachers.

The occasion was organized by the 10 SLLI Commanding officer under the supervision of Brigadier Sanjeewa Wanasekara, 652 Brigade Commander.
