Diplomats During Tour to North Call at SFHQ - Jaffna

A delegation of diplomats of the High Commission of Australia in Sri Lanka during a tour to the North paid a courtesy call on Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna at the Security Force HQ-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Thursday (2).

The delegation included HE David Holly, Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Captain Ian Cain, Defence Adviser, Mr Brett Zehnder, Counsellor Custom and Border Protection, Ms Lara Sveinsson, Third Secretary (Political) and Research and Information Officer and Mr Trivan Annakkarage, Research and Information Officer. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku.

The Commander and the Australian delegation had a cordial exchange of views on the Civil-Military Coordination, Reconciliation and re-integration process within the Jaffna peninsula and mutual interests. Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku during the meet presented a comprehensive briefing to the delegation on the current role and tasks of the Security Forces in Jaffna and ongoing projects undertaken to promote reconciliation and ethnic harmony with particular focus on civil-military cooperation projects.

The visiting delegation and Security Forces Commander at the end of the interaction exchanged mementoes, symbolizing the goodwill. Finally, the High Commissioner penned his thoughts in the visitors’ book before their departure.
