The 2nd Recruit Training Course at the Battalion Training School at Vidaththalpalai, Jaffna under the 52 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna commenced on Thursday (7) during a simple ceremony.
This recruit training programme conducted under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku in line with the 'Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’ will continue for four months.
General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Brigadier Chandana Wickramasighe, graced the event as the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Ceremony and delivered opening remarks and emphasized the salient aspects of basic military training such as the transformation process from civil life to military life, responsibilities of trainees during their training period and importance of maintaining discipline, behaviour, commitment and dedication that should be followed during military training.
This batch composed of 233 youths from Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil communities has been recruited from all parts of the country. The course would continue till 7 February 2022 under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division.
The Brigade Commanders of 521,522 and 523 Brigades, Staff Officers of Security Forces - Jaffna, Chief Instructor of the Battalion Training School, Commanding Officers of under command battalions and Instructors of the Battalion Training School were also present at the inauguration.
