Brigadier Lasantha Rodrigo of Sri Lanka Artillery assumed duties as the 9th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 66 Division amidst religious blessings at the Division Headquarters in Pooneryn on Sunday (03).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 66 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers. In accordance with military formalities, he was honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by the troops of 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment as he entered the premises.
Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling as a gesture of memory before he paused for a group photograph. Later on, the new General Officer Commanding placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of his duties after observance of religious blessings.
The formal address to the officers and other ranks followed an all rank tea. Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the HQ 66 Division, Commanding officers and other ranks were present at the occasion.
Brigadier Lasantha Rodrigo succeeded Major General Ajith Dissanayake who was newly appointed the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS). The new GOC served as Director Overseas Operations before this appointment.
