On account of the forthcoming 72nd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, 552 Brigade troops of the 55 Division staged a blood donation programme under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces-Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku on Monday (4).
The project, got underway at the Headquarters premises of the 552 Brigade, Iyakachchi , attended by more than 150 troops and it was closely supervised by the General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, Major General Mahinda Jayawadena.
This programme was carried out by troops in collaboration with the blood bank of Jaffna Teaching Hospital to replenish blood stocks in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital since quantities are fast on the decrease.
At the end of the programme, medical staff of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital appreciated the generosity and support given by the Army for saving of lives in Jaffna.
General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, Commander, 552 Brigade, Brigadier R.P Munipura, Senior Officers, Officers and troops were also present during the course of the project.
