3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 241 Brigade under the 24 Division of the Security Force HQ-East considering economic hardships of the worst-affected civilians distributed dry ration packs among 20 low-income group families, resident in the Periyanilkaweni 1B GN Division in Ampara on Friday (10).
The programme was launched under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Division, Major General Chaminda Lamahewa and the Commander, 241 Brigade. The Grama Niladhari of the Periyanilaweni 1 B GN Division with close coordination of the Commanding Officer, 3 (V) VIR selected the most deserving families for receipt of those relief parcels.
On the same day, the Commanding Officer - 11 Sri Lanka National Guard and Dr Nagfar, Director, Government Centre for Ayurvedic Research on Non Communicable Diseases, took steps to distribute 'Suwadharani' herbal medicine packets among patients at Ninthavur Ayurveda Hospital. One more stock of the same indigenous medicine was handed over to the Chief Incumbent at Deegawapiya Pirivena Temple, Ven Poddewala Sri Chandrananda Thero for distribution among COVID-affected people and those with less immunity against COVID 19 virus in Deegawapiya area.
